Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine

About Me

I am a second generation licensed acupuncturist and have been practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for 20 years.  I graduated with a Master's Degree in Oriental Medicine from the American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, a four year graduate program, in December 2004 and am a National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) Diplomate in Oriental Medicine (acupuncture and herbology).  I also received my massage therapy certification from MRC Day Spa and School in Houston, Texas in February 2005.  In spring of 2022,  I started taking CranioSacral Therapy courses through the Upledger Institute International.

I treat patients with all types of health issues ranging anywhere from pain management, common colds, allergies, fatigue, weight loss, facial paralysis, stress management (depression, anxiety, PTSD) and gynecological issues (hot flashes, menstrual disorders, fertility issues, preeclampsia and inducing labor).

Treatment methods included acupuncture, auricular therapy, tui na (acupressure), CST (craniosacral therapy) cupping, gua sha, moxabustion and herbs.

Having trained in massage therapy as well, I have had a lot of success incorporating trigger point therapy along with the acupuncture treatment. This approach is particularly successful for sports related injuries or trauma. I started to practice Brazilian Jiu-jitsu at Elite Martial Arts in Texas while studying at ACAOM and continued when I moved to Virginia at Capital Jiu-jitsu . At the gym, I practiced on fellow students, instructors, and MMA athletes for sprains and muscular pain in every part of the body that could possibly be injured or twisted during sparring sessions. I have treated a wide range of pain management cases from all ages to different types of pain, including arthritis, sports injury, post surgerical pain and herniated discs.

I am Korean by nationality but grew up in both Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela where my father practiced Korean hand acupuncture for over thirty years. He was my gateway to Oriental medicine. My first success with acupuncture was with mosquito bites and ingrown nails on myself in elementary school.

I am very passionate about what I do and because I grew up around Oriental Medicine, it is more of a way of life than a job for me.
